I'm talking about the guy who delivers our party tray that feeds 12 ppl. The total was about $115, so I tipped him $16...was this too much? Because for the pizza guy i usually only tip about $3. Do I go by how much the total is?How much do you tip food delivery people?
Great question! Did the person do anything more than a pizza delivery person? Did they make two trips from the car, help set up? Bring plates, napkins, and silverware? Was there a delivery charge?
I hope I'm not being cheap but I would think $10 and a sincere thank you would be enough, but I don't think $5 or $20 would be unreasonable, given people's different circumstances.
I'm interested in hearing from others! How much do you tip food delivery people?
I always tip 5% of the bill, treat them like you would tip a waitress or bartender,
That seems a little high to me. I usually just consider how much they are bringing. If the party delivery person brought several trays which took him several trips to the car and back maybe tip more; otherwise, it is no different than someone delivering a pizza. How much do you tip food delivery people?
For delivery, I generally tip 10% and throw in a buck or two for a really quick delivery. $16 was perfect.
I think it depends on just how much they have to do. If they had to do a 4 flight walk up then I'd give a little extra. Just because the food is expensive does not mean you need to tip delivery overboard. Giving the guy a $16 tip was a little much unless he had to carry a lot. One party tray is usually not to much to handle. I might have given him about 8 dollars. How much do you tip food delivery people?
That does sound a little bit too much....think about how much trouble the guy has to go through and then think about the tip to leave him
16 bucks sounds reasonable, especially if he had to walk up stairs or the weather was bad.
I ALWAYS WONDER ABOUT THAT TOO GOOD QUESTION I ALWAYS TIP 15% IN A RESTURANT BUT THE PIZZA GUY I GIVE ABOUT $2 I KNOW THE PIZZA GUYS AROUND HERE GET PAID 10.00 A HOUR AND THE WAIT STAFF ONLY GET 3.25 SO I TIP THEM MORE AND THEY DO MORE
The party tray is a bit different; the pizza guy uses his car his gas and his driving back and forth for minimum or below; the party tray guy uses a company vehicle, does not pay for the gas and gets a lot more than the pizza guy does...I never tip the pizza guy less than 5.00.
depends what sort of tipper do you wnt to be known as?
the under tipper? 0%- 8% of the bill.
average tipper? 9% - 14% of the bill.
good tipper? 15% - 20% of the bill!
most of the time if someone has to drive with gas theses day i try to aim a bit higher more so if the weather is crappy! if it is a great sunny day then i'll be more like the under to average tipper!
but most the time i'm a good tipper unless service sucked!
About 6 bucks is fine.
It really depends on the service. Was the party tray to your satisfaction? If so how much? Tip the person according to that. $16 is about 10%, a little over. That is perfectly acceptable if you aren't made of money, but if you have the means you can tip 20% or 30% based on your satisfaction.
If you're at a restaurant and the service and food is good. And the waiters / waitresses are breaking their backs getting every order taken. Tip a bit more than usual. Hard work deserves a bit nicer tip.
