How much do you get paid to deliver food?

If you a delivery driver for food, about how many deliveries do you average each night? What about tips? Do you get paid a delivery charge? If you have had multiple food delivery jobs were the same in the amount of tips you might get and whether or not you got a delivery charge? Have you ever gotten gratutity for the food being over a certain price? How much do you get paid to deliver food?
I delivered for Papa Johns for about 2 years. I started out at about 8 and hour working about 6 hours a day. I would make about 70 dollars a day after tips. Before I quit, I was making 11 an hour, 8 hours a day= about 100 daily. Hope this helps! How much do you get paid to deliver food?

  • Question re Schwans food delivery service?

I am asking this in etiquette because I am in this forum more than any others. Schwans is a home delivery service, they have frozen food and I have used them, on and off, for about 4 years. I recently got a driver whom I detest, he is creepy rude and when I have had to cancel the service for that date he shows up anyway and knocks on my door. I work at home which I have told him many times and when I am on the phone with a customer I cannot stop and answer the door. even when I have asked that he not knock on the door he still does it, he did it again just now despite the fact I called and canceled, he came right in and knocked on the door and I did not go to the door and he said he just wanted to leave his new schedule which I already got from Schwans, so that was a load of BS. So, my question is, although I like the service, should I just stop it or wait until they get a different driver? I can't complain to Schwans because I live alone and he knows where I live and he is a mega creep. Any suggestions, thank you.Question re Schwans food delivery service?
He has seriously crossed the line and deserves to be fired. Entering your home without permission is tresspassing and grounds for being fired or worse. Try calling management and telling them your story without giving away who you are, who he is, or any specifics. Ask them if it would be possible to speak to this driver in a manner that would keep you safe. Something along the lines of "We've recieved several complaints". Once they tell you exactly what they're going to say to him, THEN you can reveal who you are and who this driver is. Until then it's no strings attached. But I'd report him.

Or just stop using the service. There are other things like it-- like Peapod.com.Question re Schwans food delivery service?
Leave a note on you door...DO NOT DISTURB when you are working and lock it.

Is San Antonio ready for a food delivery service?

I'm about to open a food delivery business here in San Antonio, Texas! A market that has been truely underserved in this regard. For a nominal delivery fee of $5.00, and a minimum order of $20.00, I'll deliver hot, fresh food from over 10 different restaurants in 45-60 minutes straight to your front door! The name of my business is DELIVER EATS and we'll be opening up in early November, 2007. You'll be able to order over the phone, or online at www.delivereatsonline.com ! No more pizza, just because they're the only ones that'll deliver! Now you can have your choice of over 10 different types of cuisine including Bar-B-Que, Seafood, Mexican, Thai, Indian, and Italian, just to name a few. I'll be serving the North, NW, and Downtown Areas of town to start with. Residential and Corporate business is welcome, Lunch and Dinner available Mon-Sat, Closed on Sunday. My question is this. Who here will use my service? What can I do to improve the concept? What have I forgotten? Thank You!Is San Antonio ready for a food delivery service?
There was a service doing this before, but I have not seen their flyers in the restaurants in a while. This is an excellent idea. Would be very good if you can get the information out to people who are in town at area hotels but just don't want to go out. I know often when we are out of town for meetings and other events and my kids want to stay in the room, they have food delivered. Is San Antonio ready for a food delivery service?
That sounds very very convenient. I think $5.00 is reasonable because it saves the person gas, time and trouble of going out themselves to pick it up! Give it a try, you'll never know until you do.

This has been done before, but has not been available for a while. This is a need that I would make use of often, as I have few places that deliver in my area. I can get Thai and sushi, but not much else.

Need a name for a new food delivery/pick up service, came into this category for creative ideas?

I am thinking of opening a food delivery type of service. The concept would be food slow cooked throughout the day in a crock pot, then either delivered to or picked up from the customer. I just can't think of a name that works. I have tossed around Hot Stuff, The Hot Pot, The Crock Stop, The Crock Drop (since each client will receive their own pot and return it for the next delivery scheduled), I just don't know. I would love suggestions!! Maybe its a play on words, or a different language, IDK. • Is it necessary to tip the delivery guy when ordering some fast food from outside?

I ask because I don't have much money since I'm a student and living aloneIs it necessary to tip the delivery guy when ordering some fast food from outside?
If you don't want to tip, you should go to the fast food in person.

The tip is for the time and expense of bringing you the food.

A trade secret is when you don't tip and order again, you get foreign substances on your food the next time.Is it necessary to tip the delivery guy when ordering some fast food from outside?
If you don't have much cash, you probably would be better off by not ordering delivery. Remember the delivery guy's salary is adjusted (down) to account for tips and he is likely as strapped for cash as you are. It doesn't hurt to give him a couple of dollars but five or so is about the most expected. Is it necessary to tip the delivery guy when ordering some fast food from outside?
If you don't have much money you probably shouldn't be ordering fast food. Most delivery drivers use their own cars. There's wear and tear on their vehicles and they have to use their own or tip money for the gas to get it to you. I don't know how much gas costs where you live, but it would be helpful to give them at least a dollar or two. When gas was up to $5 a gallon, my son the delivery driver complained it was coming out of his pocket.

I'm not saying you do this, but his store has had problems with people who treat drivers badly or don't answer the door to get the pizza. They put any negative comments on their computer with the customer information. The next time he orders, they see it. They've insisted on cash or refused service to some.Is it necessary to tip the delivery guy when ordering some fast food from outside?
It's a tip. Totally voluntary, unless specified otherwise.
You don't have to if you don't have.
If you can't afford the cash, "Don't eat the yellow snow" is a perfectly good tip.
Tipping is up to you, your in the wrong section btw.

What would you tip a food delivery person that was very late?

It was 20 minutes over the time they said it'll be. As it was, the promised time wasn't all that great, but it wasn't bad. It took the delivery person over an hour to get to my easy-to-find house, so that wasn't a problem. The food wasn't hot, but it wasn't cold.

My total was around $18.75 and I gave a $20 bill. I don't feel guilty and think it was rather generous of me! Thoughts? What would you do?

What are your thoughts of just ignoring the delivery when they arrive over an hour late? I've thought about it but that would leave me food-less for having waited so long. What would you tip a food delivery person that was very late?
What he got was more than enough. You should've called the place and complained....What would you tip a food delivery person that was very late?
too many factors in that equation.. i used to deliver pizza, and sometimes you had to take 3 or 4 orders at a time, to addresses scattered all over the place, which is time-consuming

or it could have been as simple as the person taking your order told you the wrong time

P.S. i never "expected" a tip from anybody.. depends on the customers, some people just never give a tip anyway, even if they got their food in 10 minutesWhat would you tip a food delivery person that was very late?
How do you know it was the fault of the delivery guy? How do you know it wasn't the fault of the people making your food? If there was already a long wait time there could have been a backup. Maybe there was another situation like an accident on the road that slowed down the delivery, or very heavy traffic?

Not saying your tip wasn't fine, but just saying there could have been reasons behind your food being late that was beyond their control. Reasons they might not have mentioned because then they would "just be making excuses".What would you tip a food delivery person that was very late?
well usually they wont charge you anything at all if they are late... but that depends on the company
about one third the normal tip.

Best types of food delivery jobs?

Hi all - I'm a freshman in college and just quit my telemarketing job last month, and am now looking to try something new and have decided perhaps food delivery may be my bag - don't have to deal with annoying bosses and co-workers, drive around and give people food and get tipped, plus with my college schedule - it just has struck my fancy. My question is, what would be the best type of place to deliver for, and what resteraunts deliver? And where would be the best place to work to use a company car so I would not have to use my own, and if worst comes to worst and I did have to use my own car, will they pay for gas?? Answers to any of these questions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.Best types of food delivery jobs?
well my bf is a delivery driver for pizza hut, and while you dont get a company car, for every delivery you make, the company gives you a dollar for gas. which is awesome, because while sometimes you really do have to go far to deliver, sometimes its up the block and you get a dollar just to drive 100 yards :]

Can I open a food delivery service out of my home?

I really enjoy cooking and my town only has pizza delivery services. I'd love to run a food delivery service out of my own home where I'm familar with the kitchen and can work under my own rules. I'd love to serve food that most people can't get thru a delivery service like cheeseburgers and fries(we all know Mcdonalds doesn't deliver lol). I was wondering if anyone could tell me what I'd need to make this happen if it's even a possibility? Can I open a food delivery service out of my home?
I'm pretty sure you're going to need to get the same licenses and meet all the requirements any restaurant would have - you still have to meet health and safety codes, insure your delivery drivers has sufficient legal liability in case of accidents...There's a reason not many people do this - but don't let that get you down. Do some research on opening a restaurant or pizza franchise, and rework it to your plan!

  • Organic Food Delivery in Turkey?

I heard there is a website where you can order organic foods and have them delivered to your house. According to a study by the Turkish Department of Agriculture, the level of pesticides and other harmful chemicals are used at an alarmingly high rate in Turkey. Also, there are basically no controls to stop the Turkish farmers from using them.

    link to article:

    http://webdomino1.oecd.org/comnet/agr/fa鈥?/a>

Of course, it is logical small farmers will use as many pesticides as possible when there are no controls. Pesticides are cheap, and protect your harvest from being devoured by insects... meaning more of the harvest can be sold, resulting in higher profits.

I just don't want to eat this stuff if possible.

Anyone have a solution? The organic food delivery seems pretty good... if it really exists.Organic Food Delivery in Turkey?
If these foods are not producing at the Mars believe me they are not organic.

turkey has more than 7000 farms that are specialized in organic agriculture. in cities like istanbul, bursa and antalya, there are weekly organic bazaars.

a good starting point is this site: http://www.bugday.org/eng/

it is an ngo which works for fostering organic farming in turkey.

    Fast food delivery people (UK).?

does anybody know anyone or is a fast food delivery person themselves?

i was just wondering what the jobs like and if its dangerous over here like it is in the US. apparently america rate it the 5th most dangerous job. thats an eye opener and ill definetely be tipping the delivery people a little extra now.Fast food delivery people (UK).?
From what you are saying, probably a lot safer in the UK than the US. As far as I am aware they carry no more than £10 in loose change.

Most of the time when you order by phone payment is done by a debit or credit card. In towns they all use mopeds because they mostly use kids because you can ride a moped at 16 here.

Most of the time it's a pretty safe job. Very seldom you see anything in the press involving fast food deliveries. Yes OK there is the odd road accident and you do get the odd mugging but that is mainly in really rough areas in the big cities.

If an area has a really bad reputation they just wont deliver there in the first place. Also most places wont deliver after 11 pm or midnight.

In the town I live in I can't ever recall seeing an incident involving fast food delivery in the press and the last accident was over five years ago involving a moped.Fast food delivery people (UK).?
Here in the US it is really only dangerous due to bad driving, not the job itself. And its ranked as #9 ( http://money.howstuffworks.com/10-most-d…

Oddly enough, its also on the list of most dangerous jobs in the UK, found here:

    http://skycareers.net-genie.co.uk/Career…

    Lorry and Commercial Drivers

If you think that long-distance lorry drivers or sales reps have it easy, sat behind the wheel all day driving the length and breadth of the country, think again. Road accidents are the number one killer of workers in the UK, with work vehicles involved in over 54,000 crashes every year, or 150 per day, according to the GMB.

“Long hours of working drivers, a lack of regular breaks and unnecessarily tight deadlines all lead to dangerous driving conditions in many occupations,” says John McClean, GMB national safety officer. This was evidently the case in 2001 when a driver fell asleep at the wheel of his Land Rover and careered off the M62 at Selby onto a railway line, causing the deaths of 10 people and 76 injuries as the train ploughed into his car and derailed.

The GMB estimates that 1-in-4 of all road fatalities involve a driver whilst at work.Fast food delivery people (UK).?

What are the legal issues delivering food from other restaurants. Like all of the ones that offer curb side pick up like apple bee's, bob evans, outback, texas, etc. Would I need the franchise permission to do so? I feel like I am just like any othre customer doing a pick up but I am still curious as to the issues behind it.Legal issues with food delivery?
There are no "issues." Just pick the food up for other people and deliver it for a small fee. You're going to have to find a way to keep the food hot.

Does the delivery fee that the pizza places charge to deliver your food to your door go to the delivery driver?

Just wondering because most people still tip the drivers.Does the delivery fee that the pizza places charge to deliver your food to your door go to the delivery driver?
This depends on the situation and the pizzeria and how they have there delivery setup. In some smaller communities this service is looked after by local cab companies that keep the fairs. Other Pizzerias might subcontract that service out, with the subcontractor getting the full or partial fee depending on the arrangement they made with the pizzeria.

Then you have the most often scenario of the driver being an employee of the pizzeria and receiving the biggest part of his earnings from tips received.Does the delivery fee that the pizza places charge to deliver your food to your door go to the delivery driver?
No, it does not go to the driver. It is a convenience fee charged by the restaurant and that fee goes directly to the restaurant (with no percentage whatsoever going to the driver). Drivers are paid an abysmal fee, so tipping is definitely appropriate.
Delivery charges go to the restaurant because they pay the driver's gas and their hourly wage. It is appropriate to still tip the driver a few bucks.Does the delivery fee that the pizza places charge to deliver your food to your door go to the delivery driver?
No, it goes to the restaurant. They MIGHT use some of it to pay the hourly, or use it for hot boxes, etc...but it does NOT go to the driver.
I have a friend that delivers for Mr Jims, and the gets 1.25 per delivery, no matter how far away it is.Does the delivery fee that the pizza places charge to deliver your food to your door go to the delivery driver?
No you ought to not choose any various fee
    No.

Auto Accident as Food Delivery Driver?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Florida

    Back Ground:

I have worked part time at a Golf and Country Club for the previous 18 months in the State of Florida. The Food and Beverage department decided in April of this year (2009) they would like to try a new service for the club's members, that is, food delivery service strictly to those living within the gated community. I am the Country Club's only driver, as it's a night and weekend job within a single 900 housed community.

    What Happened:

I was recently making a delivery within the community when I received a call to my cell (this is legal still in Florida). It was a call from the club house (my work) to notify me of a single last delivery (after the one I am carrying) before the shift is over. When I attempted to pick my my phone my attention went off the road for a moment in which I veered off to hit a mail box with my side mirror. I then proceeded to hit the curb and sustain damage to my tire and many of the parts in that location.

I have since fixed my car with my own finances (estimate $450) and have been notified that the mail box replacement will be $350 and the Food and Beverage Department of the Country Club will pay $100 of the mail box cost.

Should I talk deeper with management about the costs here? It seems unfair that I should take on the burden of fixing my own car and most the mailbox. In starting the service in April, I never signed any waiver or release on any potential accidents; it was never even discussed. But I am now facing about a $700 burden after having an accident at work, performing my job, by being contacted by my job.

Any help would be great. Any links to some sort of useful reference even better.Auto Accident as Food Delivery Driver?
What is your state's law on auto insurance (some have mandatory liability). But you can talk to your employer if this is the first time, and then come to some agreement for future incidents. But other than that most of the time when I see ads for drivers they want people who have their own insured cars for that reason, to avoid on the job liability for drivers in control of their car.Auto Accident as Food Delivery Driver?
I'm not a lawyer, but here in Oklahoma if your employer requires you to use your personal vehicle to do your job, then they are on the hook for any damages that occur while you are doing your job. All they can do if fire you, but they still have to pay for it. Talk to the lawyer/legal dept. or talk to your own car insurance people for guidance. It's possible the management involved doesn't know what their responsibilities really are.Auto Accident as Food Delivery Driver?
You wrote: "...It seems unfair that I should take on the burden of fixing my own car and most the mailbox..."

And yet, strangely, you were okay with picking up your cell phone (a device that has a huge amount of scientific research that points to it as a distraction equal to or even greater than the impairment caused by alcohol intoxication) while you were driving.

If you are not capable of driving and talking on the cell phone without running into stuff, I'd recommend you either park to take cell phone calls or turn the phone off.

Good point. I should start working at a take out restaurant.

When it comes to fast food do we crave the burgers or the convenience and speed of delivery?

If I were at a sit down restaurant and the waiter brought me a burger that some of the fast food places serve out their drive through windows I would walk out. But i am constantly drawn to those golden arches time and time again. What's to deal? When it comes to fast food do we crave the burgers or the convenience and speed of delivery?
I don't crave McDonald's. In fact, today I have to go to the optometrist. In the building there are burger joints, pizza places, etc. but I have absolutely no desire to go there. I'm desperately trying to find something yummy and healthy and am willing to take the time do eat it. Why? Because I love being alive, and part of that is treating my body properly. Once you realize that slowing down isn't that bad, that the world won't crumble under your feet, life gets a lot better. When it comes to fast food do we crave the burgers or the convenience and speed of delivery?
both, burgers are delicious and the fact that we can get them so fast makes them so much more better
Both and there are no dishes to wash and dry. When it comes to fast food do we crave the burgers or the convenience and speed of delivery?
It is both burgers and convenience with speedy delivery. Then it is price and don't forget those fries.
    the taste of the burgers!~!

__When it comes to fast food do we crave the burgers or the convenience and speed of delivery?
i think it's both, because we like the taste of the food and crave it, plus it's fast and convenient which just makes it better.
It is definitely a combination of both. Sometimes we just get a genuine craving for these salty, fattening, but oh so delicious treats. But many times it is just the simple convenience that draws us in. Even worse, the cravings can be intensified by the need for convenience if we are short on time but hungry.

  • Fast Food Delivery Survey..for school?

So for my Entrepreneurship class I have to develop a business and then conduct a feasibility survey on it. I chose to do a Fast food delivery service for on campus. Basically on weekends for those who happen to live around campus you can call us and we'll deliver fast food for you. These places include everything in the Cape area so burger king, dairy queen, McDonald's basically whatever you want we'd deliver it to you. We'd basically work on a small delivery charge and tips so in conducting the survey if you could just answer this three questions and post them in the comments section I would greatly appreciate it. Even if you don't live around a college university just say how likely you would if you did live by one.

    1. How likely would you be to buy the product or service described on the concept statement?

    ____ Definitely would buy

    ____ Probably would buy

____ Might or might not buy

    ____ Probably would not buy

    ____ Definitely would not buy

    2. How much would you be willing to pay for the product or service?

    3. Where would you expect to find this product or service for sale?

Again, thank you.Fast Food Delivery Survey..for school?
probably wouldnt buy. and well its fast food so its no big deal to go get it.

    i wouldnt pay

    again i wouldnt.

however just for the record ive always wished chinese had delivery just a suggestion

WHen you ask for delivery service from a restaurant, what don't you like when the food arrives at your place?

sometimes we are just too lazy to go to restaurant. That is why we order food from phone and ask it delivered. but when it arrives, you are not satisfied with something. what is it?

btw, how is food usually delivered in your country?WHen you ask for delivery service from a restaurant, what don't you like when the food arrives at your place?
In every area I've lived, even in large cities, I've never been in a delivery zone of anything other than pizza. The current prices of Pizza Hut, Domino's, and Papa John's are no so outrageous. And they never have any special deals anymore unless you're buying stuff for a large group. What about the deals for a one or two person sized order?

Anyway, we never order delivery anymore. Pizza Hut's crap was always wrong too.WHen you ask for delivery service from a restaurant, what don't you like when the food arrives at your place?
I dont like that sometimes the food is cold by the time we get or that they forget to put napkins, forks, spoons or condiments!!!!WHen you ask for delivery service from a restaurant, what don't you like when the food arrives at your place?
Something small is always missing. There's only one Chinese place in town, and the food is excellent. Last night they forgot the extra hot mustard, and all of the sweet and sour sauce. The time before they forgot the to-go menu I had asked for since ours was all marked up. Sometimes we get a couple packets of sweet and sour, other times we get a huge pint. I'd like some consistency.WHen you ask for delivery service from a restaurant, what don't you like when the food arrives at your place?
I usually hate the dirty looks the delivery person gives me just because I opt to not wear pants when I open the door. We're all adults. Get over yourself, right? RIGHT?! Jeez.

Should we tip late food delivery??

I ordered food from a Japanese Restaurant to be delivered to the office. It took them an hour to get here, and they forgot one of the orders. The total was $14.40 and I gave him $2 tip. The delivery guy had to go back to the restaurant and come back again, which took him about another hour.

Does he deserve an additional tip?

    What do you think?

http://myspace.com/marsinShould we tip late food delivery??
absolutely not...not your fault the restaurant couldn't get their act together!Should we tip late food delivery??
Yes, it's not the delivery guy's fault, now is it?
hell no, you actually tipped this guy? lol i wouldnt have gave him a pennyShould we tip late food delivery??
    Oh heck no.
no good service no dam tip!Should we tip late food delivery??
Yes, I always tip $2.00 no matter the cost.
maybe not the whole amount 10%...but something lil.like 2 % or 5%..cause after all he drove all the way to your office!
It was not the delivery persons fault. It was the fault of the establishment that prepared the orders before sending them out.

Best thing would be to contact the establishment and let them know they messed up big time and maybe even get a free meal out of it.
No. You already gave him a tip, and it is not your fault that he had to come back again.
I say depends if he/she is nice and polite about it...If I feel bad for them I might throw them another buck...Why not. Definetely a judgement call...If I order from there a lot YES...If I dont then heck no.
    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

they are gay for not being on time. so they do not deserve the tip! so keep the change for the next time and maybe they will learn their lesson
Only tip the delivery guy if you don't want him to spit in your food next time you order from that restaurant.
It's usually not the driver's fault the order was screwed up. Delivery drivers often work only for tips- so making a trip and not getting a tip sucks. You should have tipped him better the first time. If something happens with your order call the store and ask for a discount on the price of the meal - but still tip the driver the normal amount...unless he's rude.
Hell no, especially if the food waz cold when he got there...i just saying....do what u want
It was nice of you to tip the delivery guy--chances are it wasn't completely his fault. But ONE tip is sufficient for ONE order.
i am a delivery restaurant manager, and i think you should not have tipped, that was terrible service and you should have been offered a credit for next time, the order should have been free, or simply offer your money back. oh yes and an apology.
If it was the restaurants fault then yes tip the delivery person, but half the first time and half the last time.
absolutely! There's about an 95% chance that it's not the driver's fault that it was late. So, don't punish the driver!!

You should HOWEVER call and complain about the service to the manager or owner! If they don't offer you some kind of compensation then make a point to tell them you WON'T be ordering from them again.
late its free and no tip
no way the wrong order might not have been his fault but the hour wait might have been i wouldnt give him another tip, why should you pay for the restuarants mistake
no he should have checked the order before he left. You shouldn't have tipped him in the first place.

Would you order delivery Chinese food in the middle of a terrible blizzard? & a Q about playing in the snow?

...assuming the restaurant is open, of course.

I know this isn't the section for this but I'd like answers from people I would consider my peers, instead of a bunch of kids playing on the computer. I usually get the best answers in here.

It seems to me that the Chinese food restaurant I usually order my delivery from is ALWAYS open and delivering. Would you order a food delivery (from any place) knowing full well that the delivery person would be putting themself in imminent danger.

2nd question - if you did order food and the delivery person got into an accident on his way to your home, would you feel guilty or just see it as an "oh well, it was his choice to work today, I just utilized the service being provided" kind of thing?

OK, and to make this legit for this newborn and baby section; how long do you/would you allow your little one to play outside in the snow before making them come in and warm up for a while?Would you order delivery Chinese food in the middle of a terrible blizzard? %26amp; a Q about playing in the snow?
Sounds like you're stuck on the east coast! Whew, it looks really messy out there.

I think it depends on how bad the snow is. If there is no way that it would possibly be safe for them to be on the roads, i.e. complete whiteout conditions, roads not plowed, their delivery cars have no 4 wheel drive or snow tires (if you happened to know that somehow), I don't think I would do that. But at the same time, I don't think you could be held liable in court if they were to leave and get in an accident. Personally, I would definitely feel guilty anyway, even if the law is on my side. If I absolutely could not stand a single thing besides Chinese for dinner (say, if I were pregnant - oh wait I am :) see I found another way to relate this to the pregnancy/newborn and baby section!), I might make my husband do pick-up in our 4 wheel drive chevy truck, unless it was truly terrible and I seriously thought something bad would happen. Ugh what a horrible thought!

I would let them play outside in the snow for a very long time. With me checking up on them, and there being lots of breaks. It also depends on how old they are. If they are five or younger, I would probably want to stay with them the whole time, so it would be a lot shorter than if they were eight, and I could trust them in the backyard for a while. But I would check on them every 15 minutes, and have them come inside to warm up a little when they were too cold, or needed some hot cocoa, probably every hour- hour and a half. Snow is SO much fun for kids!!!!!

Stay warm!Would you order delivery Chinese food in the middle of a terrible blizzard? %26amp; a Q about playing in the snow?
No, I wouldn't order in the middle of a blizzard. I would feel horrible if the driver got into an accident while bringing my food because I didn't feel like cooking for myself.

I usually let my 16 month old play outside in the snow until her face is turning red or she wants to come in, whichever comes first.
Yep, I would order. I would never consider myself guilty or liable for his success or failure at reaching his destination as I am not in control of the weather, the roads, his vehicle, or his proficiency at driving in bad weather.

I would however give him a very big tip. ^_^Would you order delivery Chinese food in the middle of a terrible blizzard? %26amp; a Q about playing in the snow?
If it was blizzarding that badly then the restaurant would not be doing delivery so yes, I would order.

Usually Elyse is ready to come in before me, she doesn't like being in the cold, she's only almost 2.
errm it would kinda suck if u know that the worker crashed just because u couldnt make food -.- and kids dont really remember stuff so like 45 minutesWould you order delivery Chinese food in the middle of a terrible blizzard? %26amp; a Q about playing in the snow?
The way I see it, delivery drivers, taxi drivers, etc, realize that their job goes on in all weather. You always have the choice to call into work. You can always apply for a job inside the restaurant cooking or washing dishes or whatever. What if the delivery driver gets in an accident on a sunny day because the sun was in his eye? Or on a rainy day when his car spun out while hydroplaning? What if your delivery food fell off his seat and he bent down to get it? You are not responsible for his driving skills in any weather. As long as you are tipping extra well for the delivery in bad weather, if the restaurant is open, order from it.

Our car is in the shop and last night I called every taxi service in town to see if one of them would drive 30 min to pick my husband up from work. We had basically a white out on the freeway with all the blowing snow and every single company CHOSE to say no. Even the privately owned ones said no. They chose not to work last night. The delivery driver can also choose not to work. We live in a free country, we have the right to say no.

On the other hand, if you don't order from them, they "risked their lives" to come to work just to make no money because no one ordered from them. What if they get sent home early because its a slow day and die on the way home? What if your call for food would have saved them? You really can't dwell on this or you will drive yourself insane!

And my daughter just cries in the snow, so she won't play out there.
    I would order yes.

An individual can say no to working conditions if they feel as though they'd be put in harms way.

If they got into an accident I think I would feel bad for them but not beat myself up over it. They had the option to decline the work that's provided for them. At least in Canada they have this option available to them.

It depends on the weather. If it's -50 (which we get for maybe a month and half during the winter season) then I would say play inside. If it's -20 then 15-20 minutes. -10+ then 30-45 minutes.

  • Food Delivery in San Antonio?

Thank You!Food Delivery in San Antonio?
you might want to be open seven days a week and focus on lunch through late night, say till 10, 11pm.

I'd use your service in a heartbeat but unless you deliver to the west coast, I won't be using it.Food Delivery in San Antonio?
    Sounds like a great business.

We have a similar one just north of you in Austin called "Eat out in". And yes, I have used the service. Perhaps it would be worth your while to check them out and see how they conduct business.Food Delivery in San Antonio?
You might want to eventually rethink the closed on Sunday, and close on another night. A lot of people get busy on the weekends and don't want to get dressed to go eat on Sun nite. Otherwise, it will be good to have this service back in SA again.

    Good Luck

No I wouldn't order delivery takeout during a blizzard. If I wanted to get something, I'd drive there myself. Or I'd make do with what was in the house.Would you order delivery Chinese food in the middle of a terrible blizzard?
I might attempt it if the restaurant was open. Might not be a good idea, but when weather is bad many don't want to go out. Of course, most restaurants are closed as well, but if it were open I might order.

I don't know what kind of tires they have for delivery as to 4 wheel, etc.

If the person got into an accident I'd feel bad about it just as I'd feel bad about anyone who was hurt. However, I am not sure I'd feel guilty as it was a business open for business and I was helping the business and the employee who may have needed the money.

I am not sure I'd order at all but I'd not expect them to be open either. yet if that was what I wanted, I might call them to see.
you may well place a order whether it would be delivered is open to question . will the restaurant want to risk it if he does the onus is on him .

if he thinks its not possible he should say so or ring you back.

if he did send the order and the driver had a bump the onus is still on the driver .

so your not to blame either wayWould you order delivery Chinese food in the middle of a terrible blizzard?
no, i have respect for people who work at food places. and im not that rude to come in or order food during those days when they shouldn't be really working at all but greedy people keep buying things. i just sit at home until the weather gets better. and i don't want anybody out in that bad weather.
If there was nothing else to eat and/or you really wanted chinese food I would order. Just give him a big tip and thank him/her. And I would be sad but that is their job to deliver food. If they didn't want you to order food they would be closed. Your thinking about this too hardWould you order delivery Chinese food in the middle of a terrible blizzard?
If I needed food and if they were willing to deliver it, I sure would!

But I ALWAYS-ALWAYS-ALWAYS give them a good tip (they BRING FOOD to my house!) and it would be even more in a snowstorm.

I would leave the decision up to the delivery person anyway.
I may be an ****** but I not only would I have.

If he had an accident and didn't get my food there on time I would still give him a tip.

I also wouldn't be upset if I called and they said, "Sorry no deliveries because of the weather."

Life is or at least should be about taking personal responsibility.
If I wanted it I would order it, and if the delivery person had an accident, I wouldn't know, I would just be wondering where my order was.
    Share the Chinese food?
of course. you are paying outrageous prices for DELIVERY, not for their crappy rice.
Yes, I'd order along with thinking "That guy's gotta be crazy to be driving around in this stuff."
Well what do I know? I'm just a kid playing on the computer.
I would order. It's their decision whether to deliver or not.
No I wouldnt........And lets hope (James) above gets his next meal spat on by the whole takaway staff.
I would only order it If I knew it was one of the above a...holes!!!!!!
I went through this same thing in December 2009. It was the first night of a two day blizzard and I had the mean munchies.. I knew that the Chinese place that I order from is open very late and willing to go out of their way to deliver to my house (about 10 minutes away.) I ended up calling and they were open. They took my order and then called back within two-three minutes and told me that it was too far. I guess they used their own judgment on that one, haha. I would feel bad if the person got into an accident but I feel if they are unable to perform the duties that their job require during a blizzard, they should just close their doors or stop service.
I would have no problem ordering it, and I would have no problem laughing my *** off if he got in a car accident and died on the way to my house

    Your worst food delivery experience?

What was your worst food delivery experience?

Mine was Little Ceasers. A few years ago we ordered pizza. It came 1 hour later, we paid the guy. Opened the box to find all the cheese/toppings had slid all the way off the pie. Had the delivery guy take it back to bring us a new one. 1 hour later, same delivery guy brought back another messed up pizza. We called the manager to complain. Manager promised us a perfect pizza and a free one next time we ordered. Delivery guy left and said he would come back with our order. 1 1/2 hours later with still no delivery, we called and no one answered. We drove by and THEY HAD CLOSED. The next day we complained to the owner and the owner said THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO FOR US ANYMORE. The pizza delivery guy stole our money!!!

We never ordered from there again and I think they are not in business any more, at least in southern California.

What's your worst experience? Easy 2 points and 10 for the worst overall. Thanks.Your worst food delivery experience?
I ordered 2 pizzas once and I invited him in to set it down and he tripped coming in the door and both pizzas went goody side down into my almost white carpet.Your worst food delivery experience?
I work for a law firm and we ordered food from a very nice restaurant for a business lunch meeting for the Partners to go over the new system for ordering food. We used this system call Osmosis to order the food from the restaurant and it goes directly to their computer system and they claim to be the best. Food came late, forgot a full platter, no condiments, no napkins, had to go back a few times and needless to say the meeting was useless for us in the IT department to train on this when the first order for the darn meeting was so screwed up. The restaurant was Potbelly's. Now let me add that I am not sure if the restaurant was at fault or the Osmosis ordering system which firms use since they are linked to over 100 restaurants in Center City.

If you go to nearby H-Mart, they have such service you select the package from their picture list, you pay them, and the package is actually prepared in Korea then delivered to your cousin.

Follow the link below, if they don't have english you can check your local H-Mart.

Food delivery ideas for new mother?

My friend just had a baby a few days ago so a group of my other friends decided to deliver her food for a month twice a week since it's probably hard for her to get out of the house or cook.

She decided a T/Th schedule for food delivery. Any good ideas of what to prepare/buy?

So far, we thought of deli meats, bread, soups, rotisserie chicken. Is it better to have prepared foods like a casserole or can some foods require minimal assembly (like nuking or just sticking it in the oven)?Food delivery ideas for new mother?
i just had a new baby and i have a 3 yr old, you want to deliver for me, hahaha!

i find when i actually get to go shopping, i buy alot of pasta, dried or fresh, and different sauces, as its so easy to boil up and eat, plus its filling too.

if you wanted to make things, then like everyone said, make and freeze, so she can reheat.

bread, and meats cheese, mayo, and butter, are always great to have, for when shes hungry but does not want to 'cook'!

yeah after a baby and no sleep even a microwave can be hard work!

spuds to make jacket potatoes, tins of soup, treats, chock, cakes, for a much needed sugar boost. lol

beans, cheese, salads (ready prepared) etc for jackets, always handy!

also as you visiting 2 weekly, get some long life milk, then she can use that if she runs out at 2am and needs a brew!

that's all i can think of right now, lack of sleep makes you very forgetful, hope that gives u ideas!

i just thought what i would like!

argh yes, nearly forgot, get toilet roll, washing up liquid, washing powder, tea bags. and maternity pads.

they are the things you always forget you need till; you come to need them! she will be pleased!

your so sweet! should set up a little business! mum's little helpers!

would make a small fortune!Food delivery ideas for new mother?
Casseroles/stews/soups/tomato pasta sauces and curries are excellent to just microwave or freeze until you want to microwave. Portions of mashed potato are good for this too as can be microwaved to go with some grilled meat and a tin of peas/sweetcorn.

This is lovely of you and will be a great help.
yes casserolesFood delivery ideas for new mother?
Casseroles are great yes. Lasagna that just requires baking is also a good option, as well as home made stew. Remember lots of fresh fruits and veggies. Minimal assembly is fine, especially since it will allow for a bit more versatility. One idea could be to think about what you normally eat then try to transfer as much of that as you can into meals that gift easily. It sounds like you have a wonderful group of friends.
Casseroles are perfect. They are comforting, freeze easily, and can be reheated several times as leftovers. Bring them cold and she can pop them in the oven when she is ready. Most casseroles make a large pan, but you can divide the recipe into two "brownie" square pans and freeze one for her to use later. Glad makes great plastic freezer-to-oven pans that I used when my sister had her baby.

My favorite casseroles are chicken/rice, enchillada (mild if she is breastfeeding, lasagna.

Bring it over with a fresh salad and she'll be in heaven.Food delivery ideas for new mother?
That is really thoughtful of you and your friends to do!

How about a meat and vegetable lasagne? This way it covers most of the food pyramid with cereals (pasta), meat and vegetables and cheese.

Make sure the new Mum also gets some fresh fruit too!
I just dropped off dinner to someone! I made southwest salad- with lettuce, tomatoes, black beans, corn, cucumbers, bell peppers, green onions, and some warm sliced up steak.

We had the same thing for dinner that night!

Just put it in disposable stuff. I hated keeping track of dishes and then trying to make cookies or something to return it with when I had my baby! I just kept thinking it would be easier to make grilled cheese
I would make stews, like lamb stews and beef bourbigion ( cant spell that ever)... you can make a lot and put in freezer bags so she can unfreeze easily .

Home made soups are also awesome and freezable.

It really depends on what her family likes to eat though.

Bring fresh veggies and fruits too!

You guys are doing an awesome thing for her
I think shepards pie would be a good one especially if she has other children. Just incase you don't know its beef, corn, and mashed potatoes layered in a casserolle dish.
The nicest thing people brought us were the things that we could freeze and then thaw/heat and serve (right in the container was a bonus). We liked it b/c while it wasn't too much of a pain to feed ourselves, it was awful trying to cook when family showed up.
I would say the following items :

Homemade Speggetti Sauce ( Easy To Freeze )

    Stif Frys

    Mac %26amp; Cheese

Sheppards Pie ( Made WIth Lamb %26amp; Beef Is The REAL Way )

    Meat Loaf

Subs ( Easy To Make )

We ordered pizzas and when we opened the box, a piece was missing! We were going to file a complain but were already ready to watch a movie with the whole family, so we decided to wait. Well, turns out there was hair on the pizza! Too bad we realized that too late before my cousin bit into a piece. Since we didn't remember the pizza deliverer, we went to papa johns (where we ordered from), and the only thing they could say was that the guy that delivered our pizza's name was Dave. So we waited for Dave's next delivery to be done. He came back and his eyes were as big as oranges. He was fired on the spot and a couple of minutes later, another family came in and complained about a slice missing....

Almost as funny as it was frustrating.Your worst food delivery experience?
That's really a bad service. Your story I think just might top off as the best of the worst. One time, we ordered a pizza and those cinnamon sticks from Domino's and they forgot to send the cinnamon sticks. And another time, we ordered from Domino's the same items and they brought the cinnamon sticks with tomato sauce as the dip and not the frosting. But you have my vote as the best of the worst delivery service.
There was one time i orderd Three Big Mac Tasty Combo'z for me and my Other Three friends . Anyway , when the delivery came i opened the bag and i found out that there was 7 or 8 Fries only in the bag . So i told the Delivery guy and he looked soo freakin stoned and he went like " Ooo .. **** .. Im Sorry dude .. ill bring you another one " ... And after Two Hours he bringed the other order and we were so freakin pissed and HUNGRY !!Your worst food delivery experience?
Well theres two streets in my area that are the same name,

    and i live on one.

And we can never order in becuase it always gets delievered to the other neighborhood.

lol i know its not exactly what you asked but thats the best i got..
Nearly chocking to death on food

Bridge Card - Michigan Food Stamps - free food delivery marketing question?

If you had a delivery program that was popular with those that already qualified for the bridge card, or state issued food stamps in Michigan, how would you recommend making its availability more widely know in a certain market area? For example - in Flint, MI - Gourmet Foods offers free home delivery to anyone that already has a bridge card or to those that register requesting delivery at mybridgecard.com , but how would you recommend focusing on a certain areas to make it easier for the drivers without costly advertising? Is there a website you'd recommend using to compete against GFO in the Flint area - that would likely be viewed by those that receive food stamps and didn't know they could get free delivery and use their bridge cards or food stamps?Bridge Card - Michigan Food Stamps - free food delivery marketing question?
Have you tried craigslist.org but be careful there's alot of scammers on there.Bridge Card - Michigan Food Stamps - free food delivery marketing question?
how and who do you think would pay you for the delivery charge if we are using the government cards? the poor people would be losing money for a charge that they would encounter by using your service. there has to be a charge or else you are bringing the order for free? then how are you getting paid? i'm sorry but things are changing so fast that people are going to think twice about services that are not free of charge for the elderly. young people with bride cards can always find a way to the store. so who would your service appeal too? that site called mybridgecard.com if an arm of the delivery service of Gourmet food service. they are giving bridge card owners a chance at winning free food. Gourmet food service charges a fee for delivering their products.
Why on earth would our government spend money on advertising to show welfare residents that leaving the house no longer has to be done in order to use the bridge card. Who delivers the food? How much welfare do we "need" in this state. People if your neighbor needs a ride to the store help them out. Food stamps given indefinably only hinder a person from relying on them selfs for nourishment and cost people there dreams.Bridge Card - Michigan Food Stamps - free food delivery marketing question?
Consider your market. You need to advertise in free publications. Find out if your local library has a community bulletin board that you can post a flyer on. Find out if there is somewhere near your local Michigan Works office where you can advertise. Check near your local Social security office as well. Although advertising on the internet is appealing not everyone has home internet access. Advertise at your local college campuses as well. Post at your local senior center as well.
I don't know how successful you'd be - not sure if there is niche there or not. But I guess I'd try some flyers at the local markets in the area - you know the independent ones that are in the city (i.e, not Kroger, Meijer, etc.) - I might also try flyers at church bulletin boards, etc. Craigslist is good for everything. Maybe some kind of deal with a homeless shelter?Bridge Card - Michigan Food Stamps - free food delivery marketing question?
hi, u answered my question! Will you copy and paste ur answer to my other foodstamp question? Just go to my questions and answer my question again, the one thats under government, and I will choose you as my best answer! I tried to email u, but u have it disallowed.

Food delivery in my area is limited, Why?

I live in South Gate, California, 90280.

After coming home after a hard (and possibly late) days work, sometimes, I just don't want to cook. The problem lies with the delivery options that are available to me. Yes there is pizza, but sometimes you just don't fancy italian. I like indian (good luck finding a resturant, yet alone one that delivers) and I like chinese but on one occasion we ordered chinese, the food was below par and bland.

I like most food types and in many styles, but there just seems to be a serious lack of delivery options available to me. I currently do not drive and am relying on public transport so it's not like I can hit the drive-thru on the way home.

Are there any good websites or businesses that came help me find what I am looking for?

Who knows! maybe a resturantuer will see this and start to offer deliveries!

Thanks in advance.Food delivery in my area is limited, Why?
Have you ever tried foodler.com? It's huge in Boston where I'm from and I'm pretty sure its available to people in California. You can view a list of takeout and delivery restaurants in your area and order right online, view the status of your order, etc. Some restaurants that don't offer delivery themselves have delivery companies that do that for them and they are listed on the site as well. If foodler does not offer anything in your area try searching for other sites like it, there are more out there.Food delivery in my area is limited, Why?
First off, there's not many restaurants in South Gate to begin with and almost everything is fast food. In addition, it's on the verge of being the hood, so people aren't going to want to deliver there.

Drive through Downey and pick something up on the way home.Food delivery in my area is limited, Why?
I don't know. I do know that when we were you Los Angelos we had a lot better choice than the options we have here in Queensland Australia.

I want real and wholesome food available to be delivered for a change!! (or even pick-up if necessary! )Food delivery in my area is limited, Why?
You live in a dicey area, the insurance is too high for them to deliver there.
I've got two ideas and I am not sure which one, if either would be good for you. Many areas have a company that will take your food order, place the order with an area restaurant, pick it up and deliver it to you. Your yellow pages or internet search may get you a name or two. The one that comes to mind is LA Bite but I question if they cover your area.

The other is that I presume you have a bus pass. You could stop and get off at some location, like some shopping mall or area, either eat there or order to go and then catch the next bus.

How often do you go out for supper? Restaurants, fast food, delivery, carry out... etc?

I love going to restaurants. Chinese Food, a sit down place to get some breakfast or a BLT or something. I'm lazy and don't want to cook and never have anything around the house. I'd say I go out 3-4 times a week. How often do you go out for supper? Restaurants, fast food, delivery, carry out... etc?
usually at least twice a weekHow often do you go out for supper? Restaurants, fast food, delivery, carry out... etc?
probably about 2-3 times a week - i suck at cooking
Well my family and i go out once a week, every Friday..ya know payday...sometime's we will just order pizza other Friday's we go out..and of coarse there is alway's shopping that day also...that's alway's fun!!!!How often do you go out for supper? Restaurants, fast food, delivery, carry out... etc?
Not very often, but I know I'm the exception.
atleast once a week. sometimes twice. sometimes i go overboard...heheHow often do you go out for supper? Restaurants, fast food, delivery, carry out... etc?
i use to eat out alot, but now i'm trying stop because i want to keep my weigh down.
    just on the weekends
Anywhere from 2-4 times per week.
    everyday almost
Sometimes once a week unless im trying to loose weight
Once a week- I cant be going out 3 or 4 times a week because everything is just too expensive-- Meal for 2 is already about $40 to $50- Why spend all that money when i can eat at home? Plus, i dont like others paying for me, im either the one paying or share the bill---

On the weekend is another thing so i do try to eat out, usually on Friday night or Saturday-

Fast food is a big NO NO for health reason and becuase it makes me break out- so i will only have fast food once in a while.
Almost every day. I'm such a bad cook that I can hardly boil water without scorching it. :D
Not very, i always eat at home cos my mom likes to cook
We used to go out to eat all the time, but now we only do on like Fridays and Sundays after church. Sometimes we will go on an odd day like a Tuesday or Monday or something, but we don't do that often.
Lunch maybe 1 or 2 times a week.

Quick dinners, fast food, pizza maybe 2 times a week

Nice sit down dinner 1 time a month
Every Friday night, Saturday lunch and dinner, Sunday lunch and usually Wednesday night before church; so that's 5 times a week
3 times a week or so
i myself with my family sometimes 1x week
my family really never goes out to eat unless it is like a birthday or something
We eat out every night. But sometimes we get tired of it so I cook a lot and then we are ready to eat out again.
A LOT!! It is unusual for us to eat at home because of crammed schedules. Sometimes we come home as late as 9:00 pm and all we do is unwind and it is bedtime.
I'm what you call 'cooking impaired' therefore 2-3 times per week.
i go every so offten. my family we try not to go out to eat all the time.

    Food delivery Business?

From foods at the restaurant to fast food. Yes, I know delivering from places like mc-donald's is not going to be lucrative considering the low cost and food getting cold quick. How about Chipotle , Panera Bread, Starbucks , Dunkin Doughnut , TGI ? Chipotle , Panera , Starbucks can be lucrative because people just love these places. I can keep a price range of 13 bucks thats two burritos from chipotle plus a 5 dollar of flat rate delivery charge . Same thing with Panera. With Starbucks it looks promising because people are addicted to the coffee and mind you its not the just hot ones that sell. Maybe I can just deliver the cold products from Starbucks ?The cost of the food has to be 10 bucks or more. Yes, there is a liability issue , plus the food getting cold. But there can be a heating arrangement done in the vehicles that will keep the food warm? I will also keep the radius fairly small maybe about 10 miles. I will have a website where the orders will be placed. Yes it is risky but I am still considering it . I need some more suggestions.Food delivery Business?

Been here 4 some time now. Can anybody recommend me any restaurant or persons who will be willing to do delivery to my house for dinner delivery? I am looking for Indian food and will be obliged if the food can be delivered 2 my house. Am I supposed to tip our Schwann's guy (frozen food delivery guy) ?

He comes by every other week and we order food from him and he brings it to our house.

We baked and/ or gave extra tips for lawn guy, pool guy, and the cleaners, but I didn't even think about the Schwann's guy!

Should I have tipped him??Am I supposed to tip our Schwann's guy (frozen food delivery guy) ?
I would think not. This tipping has gotten out of hand. The hairdresser, doorman, who know who else. I can understand at a restaurant, the waiters only make about $3 per hour. If you want, give him cookies or something.Am I supposed to tip our Schwann's guy (frozen food delivery guy) ?
Just order something extra, he is on commission.

  • Hot Food Delivery! To Tip Or Not To Tip?

My personal opinion is, if i dont have enough cash to pay for my food AND have something to tip the driver, I will not order. I would be too embarressed.

There are many people who dont tip ANYTHING! ...Even when its from a place that doesnt even charge the customer any delivery charge!

What do you think?Hot Food Delivery! To Tip Or Not To Tip?
Hot food delivery, I tip 10%. Live in the mid-west so we get by with a little less here than on the coasts.

I think it right to tip as often the people are using their own cars.

Their pay is more than wait staff at a restaurant, but they still are not being paid a living wage.

I agree with you about the not having enough to pay for the meal and the tip. Kudos to you.Hot Food Delivery! To Tip Or Not To Tip?
    Thank You for the vote.

I tip in general any "service" type job, which isn't a direct sales job.

You should always tip the food delivery man.Hot Food Delivery! To Tip Or Not To Tip?
I always tip i think its wrong if u dont i tip 5 dollars everytime
I don't tip. But then in UK, its not considered compulsory.Hot Food Delivery! To Tip Or Not To Tip?
I do tip...and usually about twenty percent of the total.
why should I tip, I am paying for it

    .
Next time you order food from them IF you don't tip and it is the same driver it will have "extra toppings" on the pizza. You don't want to know what they are. Even if it is only a quid you should tip. You skin flint.
Depends if the delivery time is adhered to and the attitude of the delivery person! We tend to use places we've used before and also base the tip on the overall quality of service.
In australia, everyone gets paid a wage... we do not tip anyone (well I suppose strippers and whores might get tipped... but thats a whole other thing lol)

so my opinion is - you dont have to tip, but if you're feeling generous, why not.
i tip accordin 2 the qaulity of the service i recieve
    C'mon...tip...always...
I live in the UK and I always tip. These people who deliver us our food are on minimum wage and the extra couple of quid isn't exactly breaking the bank.
In england no one tips this culture needs changing we should always tip.
If there is a delivery charge then just a token tip around 5% of the bill. If there is no delivery charge then increse to 10-15%. Late delivery cold food, no tip at all and a phone call to the supplier.
    no tip in the UK.

nice to, now and again, like at christmas. or if they do something special. go out of their way for you.

we get get charged enough already here. and a lot of the time the service is awful.
    Always tip the dude!!

There are some restorants the caters lunch/dinner deliveries esp. for office %26amp; for parties.

While those that per meals or sometimes, I've seen some posters nearby Condo %26amp; Bus stops that caters "economy meals" %26amp; etc. But some of my friends said, not that nice as the food becomes cold whn arrive.

Do I have to tip the driver for Chinese food delivery if the restuarant is charging me $4 CDN delivery charge?

yes, drivers live off their tips. and a few cents goes for gas every trip they make. many drivers make less than minimal wage. and have to make up the other half with tips. restaurants tell drivers for tax purposes they r only paid so much because they cant account for how much in tips should be taxedDo I have to tip the driver for Chinese food delivery if the restuarant is charging me $4 CDN delivery charge?
I do. When I get pizza delivered they charge a $2.50 delivery fee. But I still tip a couple of bucks. It seems like a double tip but, what the heck.Do I have to tip the driver for Chinese food delivery if the restuarant is charging me $4 CDN delivery charge?
In my opinion, no. They are getting paid for gas mileage.
You dont have to but it's always nice to tip the driver. Alot of food delivery people count on their tips cause their wages are usually low.Do I have to tip the driver for Chinese food delivery if the restuarant is charging me $4 CDN delivery charge?
    no
that's completley up to you, but I would at least tip a buck just to be nice.Do I have to tip the driver for Chinese food delivery if the restuarant is charging me $4 CDN delivery charge?
Yes, even though the restaurant charges you $4 the majority of that goes to the restaurant. Usually they give the driver $1 out of that. I would tip the driver ~$3. It does seem like double-dipping, but when the restaurant charges a fee it doesn't all go to the driver.
I was just talking to a delivery driver about this exact same thing. The restaurant charges a 5.00 delivery charge but can you believe that they don't get that. I thought this was to make sure they get a tip. The guy told me he only gets a 1.50 out of it. I think that is such a rip off. With the price of gas what it is right now. I don't think that is very fair. Only in America.
Free delivery is the norm around Ottawa. I don't think I'd tip on top of a delivery charge unless the weather was really miserable. I've tipped $10 in ice storms!
With most places that deliver, the delivery charges goes to the restaurant, not the driver. The driver is basically just a waiter. Sure, the company pays mileage and stuff, but let's be realistic about this. Most companies are CHEAP when it comes to paying their employee's anything! The drivers depend on the tips, especially now that gas prices have gone through the roof! You should always tip the delivery person, just like you would tip the waiter if you went to a restaurant.
How would you answer this question if you were the driver?

  • Food Delivery in San Antonio?

I'm about to open a food delivery business here in San Antonio, Texas! A market that has been truely underserved in this regard. For a nominal delivery fee of $4.99, and a minimum order of $15.00, I'll deliver hot, fresh food from over 20 different restaurants in 45-55 minutes straight to your door! The name of my business is DELIVER EATS and we'll be opening up in early August, 2007. You'll be able to order over the phone, or online at www.delivereatsonline.com ! No more pizza, just because they're the only ones that'll deliver! Now you can have your choice of over 20 different types of cuisene including Bar-B-Que, Seafood, Mexican, Thai, Indian, and Italian, just to name a few. I'll be serving the North Central and Downtown Areas of town to start with. Residential and Corporate business is welcome, Lunch and Dinner available Mon-Sat, and Dinner on Sunday. My question is this. Who here will use my service? What can I do to improve the concept? What have I forgotten? Thank you!Food Delivery in San Antonio?
Honestly I think that would be a great thing to start in your business. There aren't many businesses that deliver much less independent people opening their own businesses. Personally I am always looking to see who will deliver and will pay the "reasonably" fee that is included b/c of course that is how you make your money :) Good luck %26amp; I will definetly look you up sometime. Thanks CG in San AntonioFood Delivery in San Antonio?
Hell Yeah I'll use your service! Just remember to take good care of the customer. Also, will you deliver beer and wine as well? It's about time someone offered this kind of thing!Food Delivery in San Antonio?
Maybe you could include a service to pick up groceries or supplies; The rest of your business plan seems good.Food Delivery in San Antonio?
Sounds like a good idea! There used to be a business like yours around 12 years ago when I useded to work a regular job, and my office frequented this business. If you need an inexpensive way to advertise online email me.
I would say to get in good with some hotels - I know that sometimes I really want something to eat (that is better than the room service and cheaper for the amount you get!)

Maybe talk to some of them and get your flyers to them for the front counter or perhaps each room,

How much should I tip a food delivery driver, ie pizzza/chinese food?

Don't think in set amounts, Consider the attitude. the Promptness, the service, then go from there. You don't owe them nothing. You tip them as a thanx. How much should I tip a food delivery driver, ie pizzza/chinese food?
10-15%. Tips make up at least 2/3 of a driver's income. Drivers incur many costs in the performance of their jobs that are simply not reimbursed by their employers. If you do not wish to tip, then just go pick up your pizza.

How much should I tip a food delivery driver, ie pizzza/chinese food?
Usually there's a delivery charge attached to the subtotal. The driver gets that. I always give another $2-$5 depending on the order total.
1 yenHow much should I tip a food delivery driver, ie pizzza/chinese food?
We always give $2 as a standard tip for us being too lazy to go out. In a restaurant we tip 20%. But the driver didn't get us drinks or more napkins or anything. But if it's a large order like when the kids are over and we get 5 pizzas and wings and this and that, then the tip goes up.
Depends on how much you order anywhere from 2 to 10 bucks!!!!How much should I tip a food delivery driver, ie pizzza/chinese food?
    Maybe, 5 dollars
The current standard for tips at restuarants and with delivery is 10% of the amount you paid, but i also agree that it should also depend on if you had bad service.
i am a server and from what i understand it would be at least 10-15% of the total bill. i think the national tip percentage is 18% but sometimes thats too much.
Depends on where they are coming from. I dont usually use a percentage for a delivery because it usually isnt any extra work to carry three pizzas as oppose to one. Most pizza places now have a delivery charge included. If it didnt take too long to get my food to me then I usualy give 2-3 more dollars on top of the charge.
Most of those drivers are making min. wage and live on tips. They drive their own cars and have to pay for their own gas. That said, tip for service. If you know that the start location is half-way across town you may want to throw in an extra buck for mileage that you would have spent getting it yourself. If it is right next door to your apartment complex and it took them like 40 seconds to get to your door, then no big deal. Most people that are delivering food have some other things going on in their lives, such as school, another job, 5 kids to feed, etc. They do it because they have to for the most part, not because they love it. If they show up on time and with a good attitude, reward them nicely. It's your food they're carrying. Don't feel obligated to tip for bad or rude service, especially if you'll never use them again. I use a 10% rule for average service, more or less what you asked for but had to wait a while. 15% for good service and attitude, prompt and exactly what you asked for. 20% for exceptional service, such as showing up with complimentary goodies, bringing your newspaper to the door, handing you extra condiments and a menu with coupons for next time, etc.
    3-10 dollars

What is with food delivery charge?

pizza hut and domino's went from free delivery, to $1.25, to now $2.50! this is absurd! their pizza prices also went up, so I don't wanna hear it's bc of gas prices.

I refuse to tip the delivery person now. I will just assume they get the $2.50 delivery charge. What is with food delivery charge?
Because of the delivery charge we no longer have pizza delivered. I refuse to pay a delivery charge when it used to be free. What is with food delivery charge?
First of all, the price of EVERYTHING has gone up.

Because gas went up, the price of anything that gets delivered is going to go up (this includes pizza ingredients). How does the restaurant get their ingredients? They are delivered by a driver. It's all relative.

That's very rude of you to not tip the delivery driver. It's not their fault the pizza place raised their delivery charge. And I say, if $2.50 is going to make you throw a hissy fit, go get the pizza yourself.
thats right. mind you i might round up a bill but not to the 15 to 20% level i used to . i take that charge as the base tip and add to it to make the percentage i feel he deserves.

the drivers were always responsible for the vehicle maintenance so its not really an issue. if they no longer have to pay it then their tip doesnt need to be as high any moreWhat is with food delivery charge?
That's for gasoline and vehicle maintenance.
well then maybe u should get off your @ss and go to the pizza place and get your own damn pizza instead of complaining about the cost for them to bring it to u

( =What is with food delivery charge?
Yes, virginia, it is because of the fuel cost of driving to your house and delivering the pizza, plus the danger incurred by being a delivery driver who might get mugged or robbed at any time. I doubt the driver sees any of that money.
    Poor pizza delivery man!
ITS just an extra small way to cover their over head ..
You need to drive yourself and pick up your own damn pizza who the hell do you think you are? The delivery charge goes to the restaurant not the driver who works for minimum wage and uses his own car and his gas for which he is not reimbursed. So complain to the restaurant and don't take out higher prices on the driver who is suffering the most and punish him for doing his job and for a situation he did not create.
