I used to deliverer Pizza 20 years ago and I hardly ever got tipped. It caused a lot of problems due to the policy was that when you finished one delivery you were to pick up the very next one out but way too many drivers would come in see the next pizza was at an address that does not tip and about three or four pizzas down was a good tipper and they would tell me to get the non tipper because they were waiting on the one that tips.Do you always tip the delivery driver when having fast food delivered?
I usually tip unless I get a bad deliveryman. One time I was going to tip the driver about 20 percent and the driver started chewing me out so I did not tip him then he used the pay phone outside the store threatened to kill me. So I usually just get in the car and drive to get whatever I want.
I delivered Pizza also and had the same problem as you did. the manager never did anything about it unless I pointed it out to him. I started refusing to take the one the other drivers passed up and started complaining to the manager and I was labeled a jerk. I don't ever plan to deliver anything again. I very seldom got tipped. Another problem I have with delivery drivers is they demand a tip like you see in the movies with bellhops. I usually tip dollar since that is usually 10 to 12 percent of my order, my order usually runs $6.50 and I have had them to cuss me because they wanted a $3.00 to $4.00 tip.Do you always tip the delivery driver when having fast food delivered?
I always tip them, and I everybody I know also does. I also delivered pizza many years ago, and got the whole range in tips of nothing up to kind of exciting. I delivered in the 30 minutes or free days and nobody had time to hang around passing on the next available. As soon as you RAN in the door (caught walking anywhere and they chewed your butt,) you ran to the counter, picked up the next available.
If you needed help, you could refer to the huge map on the wall, otherwise, you were on your way, probably less than a minute after you returned from your previous order.
As you know, it was kind of a crappy job. I never had any really fun experiences, but do have one when I laugh at myself. I was making a delivery to a huge apartment complex (which I hated, often poor tippers and often extremely difficult to find your address,) had cut across the grass, stepped in a hole cut out for sprinkler heads and went flying head over heals. I turned my ankle one of those extremely painful sprains that makes you want to cry. The pizza went flying with me and when i stopped flying the pizza box inside the warmer was standing on end after a very hard landing. I'm sure the pizza was horribly smashed inside, but I delivered it anyway and went on about my business. All evening I worried that the customer would call and complain, but they never did, at least to my knowledge.
I tried to be a good representative for the company, but honestly the pain I was in from the ankle turn kinda pissed me off, unreasonably at the customer, so I sneaked off like a thief in the night. And I guess it was a good thing 'cause here, maybe 30 years later, it still gives me something to tell about.
tip tha biznatch with my bread stickDo you always tip the delivery driver when having fast food delivered?
Always Tip
It all depends really. Some places already put a tip into the total price. But if they don't then play the strike system. Plan on five dollars (unless u ordered something really small) and every time they do something wrong then give them a strike. If its late theres a strike. Check the food before you pay. If its cold theres another strike. If its not even what you want theres a strike. Or if the person delivering is in poor taste. Some are very good. But the strike system helps. It also works in restaurants.Do you always tip the delivery driver when having fast food delivered?
Yes, of course...I would always tip. The drivers use their own vehicles and barely get paid to begin with.
I always tip my pizza delivery guy.
15% is the norm, and I'll usually add on based on road conditions and weather.
As you note...as a noted good tipper, you can darn sure bet I'm seeing my pie a lot quicker than some rube who doesn't tip.
Yes always and well. In the winter here we tip much more as the roads are ones that I wouldn't want to be on or it is so cold out.
I also watch for the delivery person and make sure the light is on in the evening so that they arn't standing out there. Another thing we do is to ask what the total is so that we have everything in order.
Common courtesy.
Sure. Even more if the weather is crappy and I wouldn't want to be driving in the really bad rain/snow/whatever. :)
