When the delivery person deliveres food to your house do you have to give them a tip?

i ordered a pizza but i didn't know if you have to give them a tip? When the delivery person deliveres food to your house do you have to give them a tip?
When the waiter brings your food to the table do you leave a tip?

The waiter also took your order, brought your drinks, dessert and anything else you wanted plus listened to your complaints and gripes.

The driver however had to drive your food in his car, using his fuel, avoiding drunks, dopers, foreiegn taxi drivers, huge trucks and ticket happy police to get your hot food to your door....while you watched tv in the comfort of your living room.

By the way, the $2.00 delivery fee is not a tip given to him by his generous boss. It's his salary. When the delivery person deliveres food to your house do you have to give them a tip?
Delivery people do not usually get a full salary because it is expected that they will also get tips. Think about the delivery person--they make very little money and are providing a service to you. If you can afford to have food delivered to your house, you can spare a tip. If you don't want to tip for this service, than why not go pick up the food yourself?

But the answer to your question is "No." You do not have to tip them, however, it is the right thing to do unless they have personally done something wrong. I'd give them at least 10%....probably a little more on a small order because it requires just about as much time to deliver it.

The only time I would NOT tip is if the restaurant has a delivery charge because then I would assume that the employee is being paid from that.

Also, think about it...if you order from the same place again, you don't want them messing with your food because they are upset with you!
My husband and one of my best friends are/were delivery drivers.

I can tell you this.

You should tip. They make 3-4 dollars on a delivery. They don't get to keep it all and rely on tips to make any kind of money. they have to cash out to either the restaurant if they are private drivers, or to the company they work for. Anywhere from 25 cents to $1.+

most of their cars are in the condition a delivery car would be in, so there is a lot of wear on them. Gas alone, once paid on a $3 delivery he has what $1-$1.50 left of that?

Many drivers bust their buts for make cash, and often need that money to survive. I personally make sure I have $5 or so to give the driver a tip. It's not a whole lot different than a waitress in a restaurant. Drivers do talk, and they remember the houses that never tip, your likely to have your pizza delivered a little slower next time.

EDIT-Drivers DO NOT get a salary as well, just the set $ amount on what they deliver. When the delivery person deliveres food to your house do you have to give them a tip?
if he was late,Really late, still be nice to him but don't tip him. if he was early, really really early, tip him good and be super nice to him.if he arrives on time, tip him,and be nice to him.
To answer your question, you do not have to tip anyone. It is up to you if someone should be awarded a token of appreciation. Did they go above and beyond your expectations?

I will never tip anyone if they don't give me a reason to.When the delivery person deliveres food to your house do you have to give them a tip?
you r not force 2 give a tip at all, but delivery person is making living on salary from pizza co. and gratuitity from customers like u ,so u decide whats right. if thinking not give anything dont waste their time .order carry out and pick up urself.
tips are a nice gesture. but if you don't have tip money catch them next time...also if you order for delivery they add delivery charges to the price of your order ...tipping starts at 10% of total order but finer restaurants add 25%
If you plan to ever order from them again I'd strongly suggest it. The next pizza will be cold and made wrong if you don't tip ( some of the time)
its nice to but you don't have to
Yes, I normally tip ~15-20% if they arrived on time.
Yes you tip

NO they do not get the "delivery charge"
you should, if he was prompt.
