I've always wondered what most people do.Do you tip the food delivery person if there's a delivery charge?
if they are kind and courteous and have good service, yes. What is the point in tipping if the person is a jerk and your food arrives three hours late?Do you tip the food delivery person if there's a delivery charge?
nope. they charge to much for the food already then to force me to pay the delivery charge is wrong. the prices already reflect the overhead and costs. the additional charge is a rip off. the company keeps the delivery charge and the drivers pay their own gas. if noone tips, the driver quits, the company loses money and then maybe they will rethink their extra charge.
I only give them a dollar maybe 2. Never more than $3. I gave $5 to a pizza delivery guy because he was handicapped.Do you tip the food delivery person if there's a delivery charge?
I see no reason to pay more than the stated cost..
Of course
Practical Reasons: All delivery persons remember who tipped and who didn't, this changes who they deliver to first and who gets the third, cold delivery. Then take a look at the guy, does he look vindictive? Does he look like he may have bleeding sores? I bet he like to spit.
Polite Reason: Like a waitress, the guy is under paid in the expectation of tips. The delivery charge might not even go to the delivery guy and if it does, it barely covers the gas.
You can be Mr. Pink and a tool and not tip, but you're not paying your fair share.Do you tip the food delivery person if there's a delivery charge?
It depends on how much the charge is. Usually a dollar or a little more if the weather is bad and the charge is 2.50 or more.
That is the same as a restaurant saying...18% gratuity is added fro parties over 6. In that case, you will be charged that amount....unless something goes horribly wrong and the manager steps in. On the other hand if something goes really well you can tip above and beyond. A lot of people tip 20% for exceptional service.
***The tip is considered included with a delivery charge, although, you can tip more if you like.***
I always tip the person at least $2.00. The charge is for the company, and he doesn't see any of it, or here they don't.
Yup.
Most of the times, I do.
And this has helped a lot as, if I'm not happy with the food or there is something not right, I can call them back they are happy to oblige.
It's only good manners....he came all the way and delivered it without makin' the food nasty...give him an extra dollar a two...it may not mean much to you, but it will give him a smile :)
Yes, because the delivery person doesn't get a nickle of that, the manager does.
For the UMP-teenth time.. YES!!
The delivery charge is NOT a tip... it goes to the COMPANY to cover the driver's insurance, time, etc. Only a part of it (usually a small part!) goes to the driver, and that is to defray the COSTS of their car costs. With the price of gas... that really doesn't go very far these days.
Have a great day!
Well, usually the delivery charge goes to pay the driver's wages and the resteraunt. The delivery driver usually has to drive his own car, and pay insurance that is a bit higher than regular insurance. I've been one. I always tip someone if they are giving you service. The tips are part of the income. It always helps. Even just a buck or two is always nice.
yes, always tip, or else your a dick
no i don't. they are subcontractors for the supermarket and the supermarket charges enough for the delivery.
yes, they are still providing you with a service, and some use their own cars. they are working probably at minimum wage.
i would rather be generous and have them be happy to deliver to me.
yes, but less, the driver gets the delivery fee money
yes always tip
