Can I order delivery food by credit card without actually having the card?

Here's the thing, I lost my wallet and am completely broke/stranded/hungry at my apartment.. so my boyfriend called me and told me to order delivery and use his credit card, giving me all the information. So my question is, can I just call in, order and give them the info.. or do I actually have to have the card on me when they arrive.

Thanks! Can I order delivery food by credit card without actually having the card?
I hope they require you to use the card.

Think of it in the reverse - if someone had your bf's card number - would you want them to just call up anyone and make a charge to it without having the card?

You should not be able to do this. Can I order delivery food by credit card without actually having the card?
Bottom line, no, b/c of security reasons. The delivery place does not know if you have somebody elses' credit card info, so they will not accept the information over the phone--you must have the credit card with you to use it, like they have to see you in person.
At the restaurant I work at, we ask for the credit card info (credit card number, exp date, security number) over the phone. Then the driver brings the slip for the person to sign when they deliver the food. Most restaurants will do this. I don't know any restaurant that doesn't. No luck on getting anything without the actual credit card in hand....

Get your boyfriend off his butt and come on over to your place to help you out!
Most of the time you have to have the card and your I.D. even for delivery, they will ask to see both and make you sign for it.Can I order delivery food by credit card without actually having the card?
Sometimes you can order pizza that way, and they usually don't ask for the card.
Yes you can call it in or he can call it in. They will need you to sign when you get the food.
you can do that. you will be fine
